Thattai is a deep fried snack prepared during Janmashtami or Sri Krishna Jayanthi festival Diwali. It is known as Nippattu in Karnataka and Chekkalu in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana. The typical ingredients are Rice flour, Urad daal (black gram), Fried gram, Chana daal (Bengal gram), Butter and other seasonings which are mixed in their respective proportions.
